    Anchor Bolt Installation

Anchor bolts are absolutely essential for ensuring the safety of workers during high-altitude tasks like painting, window cleaning, light installations, and concrete repairs. Here’s how we at BSP Maintenance Projects approach this critical safety component:

    • Installation Locations: Anchor bolts are typically installed on roofs, serving as crucial connection points for lifelines, work restraint systems, and rope access.
    • Functionality: They’re an integral part of the fall protection system that keeps our technicians safe while they perform their jobs at heights.

Depending on the project’s needs and the job’s nature, these anchor bolts can be either:

    • Permanent Lifelines and Anchor Bolts: Suitable for buildings or structures that require frequent work by rope access technicians. These can be either simple or highly sophisticated, offering a complete lifeline system.
    • Temporary Lifelines and Anchor Bolts: Used for specific tasks that may not require long-term safety installations.

Compliance and Standards for Safety Lines and Anchor Bolts:

    • BSP Maintenance Projects strictly follows EN 795 Legislation, which governs the installation and inspection of safety anchor bolts for work restraint, overhead attachment points, fall arrest, and rope access.

Installation Process Of  Safety Lines and Anchor Bolts:

    • Substrate Testing: Initially, our team tests the substrate by installing an anchor and performing a pull test until failure. This provides a reliable indicator of the substrate’s strength and its capability to support both a safety anchor point and a rope access technician.
    • Pull Testing: All anchors are tested to 6kN (approximately 612 kg) as mandated by legislation. They are also uniquely tagged and numbered for easy inspection traceability.
    • Reporting: A full report is issued to the client detailing each anchor point’s status and integrity.

    Inspection Frequency:

    • Anchors for rope access use should be inspected every 6 months to ensure ongoing safety and compliance.

    Main Types of Safety Anchors:

    • Mechanical Anchors: These involve drilling a hole and hammering in an anchor rod, with a mechanical sleeve that expands and locks into place when tightened. While quick and easy to install, they may not be the best long-term solution due to potential waterproofing issues.
    • Chemical Anchors: These represent the best safety solution. The installation involves drilling a hole, cleaning it, injecting a two-part chemical mortar, and placing the anchor rod inside the hole. This special chemical mix creates an extremely strong bond between the anchor rod and the substrate. With proper maintenance and the use of stainless steel materials, these anchors can last significantly longer.

    Anchor Sizes:

    • At BSP Maintenance Projects, we primarily use M10 or M12 sizes for rope access and fall arrest jobs, chosen based on the specific requirements of each job.

When you’re suspended high above the ground, it’s crucial that every component of your safety system is absolutely dependable. That’s the assurance we provide with every safety anchor point installation at BSP Maintenance Projects.
